WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representatives Jared Huffman (CA-02) and Jamie Raskin (MD-08), founding members of the Congressional Freethought Caucus, introduced a resolution to establish May 4th as a “National Day of Reason” in the United States to emphasize science, common sense and logic as central to American constitutional democracy and essential preconditions for progress in our government and society at large. 

Today, U.S. Representatives Jared Huffman (CA-02), Jamie Raskin (MD-08), and Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (VA-03) led their colleagues in applauding the Biden administration for rescinding Donald Trump’s discriminatory faith-based regulations and finalizing updated regulations to protect religious freedoms and other civil rights for all people participating in federally funded social services.

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representatives Jared Huffman (D-CA) and Suzan DelBene (WA-01) led 38 of their colleagues in a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Charles P. Rettig urging the IRS to review the status of the Family Research Council (FRC) as an “association of churches.” They also called on the IRS to determine whether existing guidance is sufficient to prevent abuse of IRS church status.
