Nathan v. Alamon Heights Independent School District (5th Cir. 2026)

October 7, 2026

In 2025, Texas passed a law requiring public schools to display a state-selected version of the Ten Commandments in every classroom. Several multifaith and nonreligious families sued, and a lower court blocked the law, finding that it likely violatedthe First Amendment. In April 2026, the Fifth Circuit reversed that ruling and allowed the law to take effect. In August 2026, the families petitioned the Supreme Court to review the decision and block the law.
